TRAVEL

BY PLANE

Naples is served by International Airport of Naples Capodichino (NAP), located approximately 7 km from the city center. From the airport, the city center can be reached by taxi (approx. 20–30 min), the Alibus shuttle (every 20 min, direct connection to Piazza Garibaldi and Piazza Municipio), or by local bus.

BY TRAIN

Naples is well connected by high-speed rail (Frecciarossa, Italo) to all major Italian cities. The main railway station, Napoli Centrale (Piazza Garibaldi), is served by the city’s metro (Line 1 and Line 2) and multiple bus lines, providing easy access to the conference venue.

BY CAR

Naples is accessible via the A1 (from Rome and Northern Italy) and the A3 motorway (from Salerno and Southern Italy). Please note that the historic city center has limited traffic zones (ZTL); parking is limited and we recommend using public transport or a park-and-ride facility.

Local transport: the conference venue is easily reachable from the city center on foot or by metro (Line 1, stop Dante or Museo). Taxis and ride-sharing services are also widely available.

WHY NAPLES?

Internationally recognized for its history and cultural heritage, Naples was founded over 2,500 years ago and is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Its historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reflects an exceptional stratification of cultures and hosts renowned museums such as the National Archaeological Museum, the Capodimonte Museum, and the contemporary art museum MADRE.

T   he city preserves an outstanding architectural heritage, including landmarks such as the Duomo di San Gennaro, the Certosa di San Martino, and the Cappella Sansevero, home to the celebrated Veiled Christ sculpture.

As an important academic hub, Naples is home to the University of Naples Federico II (founded in 1224, among the oldest universities in the world), together with the universities L’Orientale, Parthenope, Suor Orsola Benincasa, and the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”.

Bringing together leading research and healthcare institutions, the city hosts the National Research Council (CNR), the Anton Dohrn Marine Biological Station, and the Telethon Institute for Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM), as well as major university hospitals and the National Cancer Institute IRCCS “Fondazione G. Pascale”.

In addition to its scientific and academic environment, Naples is uniquely located near Mount Vesuvius, the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the Amalfi Coast, and the islands of Capri, Ischia, and Procida.

Culture in Naples shines through sports, symbolized by Diego Armando Maradona, the upcoming America’s Cup, iconic pizza, and music by Pino Daniele. Theatre and cinema are shaped by Totò, Eduardo De Filippo, and Massimo Troisi, reflecting the city’s creative spirit.
